Following a cyber security incident, video game giant Ubisoft has incited a password reset throughout the company.

The official statement from the company is: “Our IT teams are working with leading external experts to investigate the issue. As a precautionary measure, we initiated a company-wide password reset.”

Apparently, the hacking incident disrupted games, systems and services. The announcement from the company came after multiple users reported problems last week while trying to access the Ubisoft service.

The threat actor group LAPSUS$ is the suspected culprit behind the incident, which is the same group recently involved in hacking incidents concerning Vodafone, NVIDIA, Mercado Libre and Samsung.

Ubisoft has confirmed all of their games and services are functioning as intended and state no evidence has been found suggesting a data breach of players’ personal information in connection with the incident.

Based on the TLP (Traffic Light Protocol), reports and security logs, all indicators of compromise will be made publically available to assist in the prevention of such attacks.

Ubisoft is a global gaming pioneer with headquarters in Saint-Mandé (France), a popular name in the gaming society with best-selling titles like Splinter Cell, Assasins Creed, Ghost Recon and Farcry. They employ over 19,000 people around the world with a net worth of $4.5 Billion (as of Feb 2022).
